Streamlined Transportation in the Art Deco Era
Throughout the 1930s trains, cars, planes and ocean liners all adopted a very streamlined style. This was born more out of an aesthetic appeal than for the actual benefits of the aerodynamic qualities. In terms of trains, it was particularly done to increase the allure of train travel, which was on the decline as automobile sales exploded across the country.
